Kate Middleton made her first public appearance since deciding to end her chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales, 42, and her husband, Prince William, along with other members of the royal family, attended a service at Crathie Kirk Church near Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sunday, September 22.
In images published by the British daily The Sun, Kate smiled briefly as she sat in the passenger seat of a car behind William, 42, who was driving.
The princess donned a dark green wide-brimmed hat with feathers on the side and a brown tartan checkered coat, while William dressed in a black suit for the event. We also caught King Charles and Queen Camilla driving to the chapel in separate automobiles.
Kate’s appearance at church is her first since declaring earlier this month that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, which she originally announced she was having in March, when she also revealed her cancer diagnosis.
In an emotional video statement uploaded on September 9, Kate revealed that she has finished her cancer treatment while being shot with Prince William and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
The princess expressed her “relief” upon having completed therapy, saying, “The previous nine months have been tremendously trying for us as a family. Life as you know it may change in a moment, and we’ve had to discover a means to navigate the turbulent waters and uncertain path.”
“Cancer is a complex, scary, and unpredictable journey, especially for those closest to you.” This time has, most importantly, taught William and me to ponder and appreciate the little yet significant things in life that so many of us take for granted. “Just love and be loved.”
Kate stated that she is “doing what I can to stay cancer-free” and will return to work “in the coming months when I can.”
The announcement of the princess’s return to work came on September 17. According to the Court Circular, the official record of the Royal family’s activities, Kate met with members of her Centre for Early Childhood team and Kensington Palace officials at Windsor Castle to discuss her early childhood initiative, as reported by The Telegraph.
The record of the event read: “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle this afternoon.”
Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ church visit in Scotland follows Prince William’s appearance at an event in Aberdeen, Scotland, on September 19, when he met with those fighting to reduce homelessness in the region.
