Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy will eat supper together instead of going to detention.
John Hughes produced the legendary teen film “The Breakfast Club,” which starred both of these females. Nearly 38 years after the film’s initial release in February 1985, the original members of the Brat Pack gathered for a reunion, which Molly Ringwald called an “early Christmas present.”
On Sunday, Molly Ringwald, 54, took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and her so-called “psychic sister Ally” giving each other a bear hug for the camera while dining at Cafe Luxembourg in New York City.
Many of Ringwald’s followers, including singer Cat Powers and Bangles member Susannah Hoffs, were overjoyed at the reunion.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos posted “Squeal!!!!!!” in response to the news, and many fans expressed their desire for a Breakfast Club sequel.
“My heart just skipped a beat!” said a Gen Xer. Read this comment: “This is just such a wonderful sight to behold!”
Sheedy, who is now 60 years old, and Ringwald have made a few public appearances in the decades since their film premiered with their former co-stars. At the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, Anthony Michael Hall, who played Brian, and Paul Gleason, who played Vice Principal Vernon, joined the actresses who played misfit Allison and “princess” Claire in the detention drama.
They paid tribute to their late director, John Hughes, at the 2010 Academy Awards, alongside Judd Nelson and Hall. This occurred five years later (Bender). Sheedy and Ringwald both appeared at SXSW in 2015, which honored the film’s 30th anniversary.
