Jon Bon Jovi has been hailed as a hero for talking a woman down from a bridge ledge.
According to The New York Post, the famed artist was recording a music video for his song ‘The People’s House’ on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, when he noticed the woman in trouble.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released video footage showing Bon Jovi and another individual approaching the woman standing on the opposite side of the rails.
The lady accompanying the singer gently holds the other woman as they talk, and the two then assist her in climbing back over the railing.
Bon Jovi continues to console the woman before offering her a heartfelt embrace.
The video closes with the singer and woman walking away from the bridge together.
Nashville Police released the video on social media, praising Bon Jovi for his attempts to save the woman, whom they described as ‘distraught’.
“A shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tuesday night,” the Nashville Police Department’s official account tweeted yesterday (September 11).
“Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.”
Sharing a quick quotation from Chief John Drake, the tweet went on to say, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
Others have subsequently hailed the musician, with some describing him as a ‘hero’.
One user wrote, “Jon Bon Jovi is the greatest rock star in the world and now a hero.”
A second added, “This brought me to tears. In such discord and misery, I can sense the love in his deeds.” Good job, @jonbonjovi. “A wonderful demonstration of empathy and kindness.”
“I couldn’t love this man more,” said another. “The best of the best. He was a true hero and a lovely person.
Others brought up the issue of the second woman, who assisted Bon Jovi.
“This is fantastic, but Jon was not alone,” someone commented. One individual remarked, “The lady with him also did an awful lot.”
According to this writing, Bon Jovi has not addressed the event on social media.
