Firefighter at the scene of the collision revealed Princess Diana’s heartbreaking final words to him…

A firefighter who was on the scene of the vehicle tragedy that killed Princess Diana 27 years ago described hearing her dying words.

Diana died in a vehicle collision in Paris on this day (August 31, 1997).

She drove away from a hotel while paparazzi were chasing her, making it one of history’s most famous moments.

The automobile was being driven by Henri Paul, deputy head of security at the Ritz Paris, who was later discovered to be nearly four times above the legal alcohol limit.

Diana’s lover, Dodi Fayed, and bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones were also in the Mercedes-Benz S 280 Saloon.

Followers drove the car into the Pont de l’Alma tunnel, where it crashed, instantly killing Paul and Fayed.

The hospital eventually pronounced Diana dead, while Rees-Jones survived the collision despite suffering several serious injuries.

Given the horrible nature of the collision, emergency personnel hurried to the site, including fireman Xavier Gourmelon, who heard Princess Diana’s dying words.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on the 20th anniversary of her death, the firefighter said that he was present to hear her dying words.

He explained, “She looked at me and said, ‘Oh my God, what’s happened?'”

“I tried to calm her down and tell her we’d look after her, and she fell into a coma again.”

Gourmelon stated that when they first responded to the collision, they had no idea who was in the car, and he didn’t identify Princess Diana until she spoke to him.

He claimed she was ‘agitated’ at first before losing consciousness again.

At that moment, she was still in the debris of the automobile, and when they removed her from it, she went into cardiac arrest.

He stated, “At that time, the doctor claimed she was in cardiac arrest. So we performed CPR on her, and after 20 seconds, she recovered consciousness, and we transported her to the ambulance.”

The firefighter stated that he did not spot any injuries on her body and believed she would fully recover if transferred to the hospital.

However, she passed away in the hospital after experiencing another heart arrest and failing to receive resuscitation.

Following the collision, a French inquiry blamed Henri Paul, whereas a British inquest found Paul and the paparazzi involved in an illegal homicide due to severely irresponsible driving.
