Meghan Markle wore a unique item honoring her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on day three of her trip to Colombia with Prince Harry.
On August 17, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Escuela Tambores de Cabildo, a local drum school in Cartagena that preserves traditional African drumming’s art form. As the pair danced to music in a drum circle, Meghan wore a gold necklace from her jewelry box as a tribute to their two children.
Meghan, 43, wore an Ariel Gordon Jewelry “Imperial Disc Pendant” engraved with “Archie” and “Lilibet.” She had previously worn the piece for a lunch date with friends in August 2023 and a spaghetti and wine meal with Kimberly Williams-Paisley in Montecito last month, according to the brand.
Meghan has already honored Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lili, 3, with her jewelry selections. She previously wore a necklace with the letter “A” to Wimbledon in 2019, just months after her son was born, and she also has necklaces with the children’s zodiac signs, which she wore in her 40th birthday video (which also included Melissa McCarthy!).
Earlier on the trip to Colombia, Meghan was thinking about her children when the pair visited a kindergarten class. Speaking Spanish, she informed a pupil, “You’re the same age as my son, Archie!”
For the visit to the drum school, the Duchess of Sussex wore two necklaces, a Cartier collar necklace and one dedicated to her children.
She also wore a similar top and maxi skirt combo by Colombian-born designer Johanna Ortiz, marking the second time she has worn the brand during her trip to South America. Meghan had already worn multiple Ortiz dresses during her May 2024 visit to Nigeria, as well as at the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards in New York City last year, where she wore a strapless gold dress as she took the stage.
According to Ortiz’s website bio, the beauty and lushness of her own country have always captivated her. Tropical jungles, evergreen mountain ranges, and numerous palm trees danced in her fantasies, awakening her creativity. In an urgent desire to portray the breadth of her perspective, she chose fashion as the canvas for her vision.”
Meghan continued her history of supporting local designers when traveling abroad, wearing a patterned skirt by Juan De Dios to meet with Colombia’s Invictus Games participants.
Meghan also showed respect to Princess Diana with her style during her trip to Colombia, donning her late mother-in-law’s butterfly earrings. The Duchess of Sussex previously wore the items during her 2018 trip to Australia with Prince Harry, as well as the following year’s presentation of a capsule apparel collection benefiting her patronage, Smart Works.
