Recently, allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior have made Kevin Spacey news, but now people are talking about him for entirely different reasons.
While the 65-year-old was found not guilty of nine sexual charges against four men in 2023, his recent resurgence in the film and television industries has not yet compensated for his lost time, as the actor is apparently ‘poor’ and cannot afford to retain his Baltimore house.
The American Beauty actor appears to have refused to leave despite having his property foreclosed and auctioned off to an investor this summer.
“Right now, he’s refusing to leave,” investor Sam Asgari told the Baltimore Banner. “He’s asking for six months to leave the property without paying anything.”
Clear Toaster LLC previously purchased the 9000-square-foot estate for $5.6 million on Spacey’s behalf in 2017, and Asgari paid $3.24 million for it.
The home, which sits on a dock in Baltimore, Maryland, was once one of the most expensive residences in the area, and Spacey bought it when he was at the height of his career, earning a lot of money while acting in Netflix’s House of Cards.
However, the actor’s inability to pay his $20,230 monthly mortgage following his termination from the program due to multiple sexual assault charges led to the foreclosure of the property, which Asgari later acquired.
Now, three weeks after Asgari purchased the home, Spacey’s unwillingness to quit it has grown more alarming for the investor.
However, the actor’s camp does not back up the investor’s claims, with Spacey’s attorney, Edward U. Lee III, declaring unequivocally: “The accusation by Mr. Asgari is false.”
Spacey has also been vocal about losing his house, appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored and discussing his difficult situation.
Spacey told Morgan, “They’re foreclosing on the house I’ve been living in Baltimore.
“I’m not sure where I’ll live now… I can’t pay my bills.”
Following his acquittal, Spacey has already made a slow but steady comeback to the public eye, landing a role in the earlier this year released film Peter Five Eight.
Despite this, the actor’s financial troubles continue.
“I still owe a lot of legal bills that I have not been able to pay,” Spacey stated, adding that he is currently millions of dollars in debt.
