Kelly Clarkson’s live trio performance of her popular song “Heartbeat Song” brought her 9-year-old daughter River Rose and son Remington “Remy” Alexander together for an unforgettable moment. At Clarkson’s Bakkt Theater event in Las Vegas, Nevada, the family trio played the smash synth-pop single.
Because “Heartbeat Song” is her daughter’s favorite song, River Rose held down the fort by joining her mother’s singing. Clarkson selected this song. Remy seemed at ease on stage, unconcerned by the large audience. Watch the video below to witness this wonderful family moment.
River Rose has been singing this song since she was a child, and when asked what song she wanted to sing on tour, Clarkson told the audience how much she loved it. She pleaded, “Please let me sing this song.” The celebrity went on to explain that River Rose picked her dress before inviting her to sing live, and that she “killed it” during sound check.
Supporters praised the mother-daughter duo, commenting, “That’s a moment she will never forget.” “A star is born!” “She made her theatrical debut with her mother!” Kelly’s encouragement gave River Rose the confidence to stand up and sing with passion. Kelly, that’s what we love about you! Clarkson invited River Rose to perform again at the residence the next night, and her 7-year-old brother Remington Alexander joined in for extra appeal.
Clarkson’s marriage to her manager at the time, Brandon Blackstock, produced two children. River Rose and Remington Alexander were born in June 2014 and April 2016, respectively, following their October 20, 2013 marriage. After a lengthy judicial process that garnered headlines, the couple finalized their divorce in March 2022.
The lead single from Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece by Piece, was “Heartbeat Song.” The song, Clarkson’s biggest success in the previous ten years, received positive feedback and achieved platinum status in the United States. The song topped the US Dance Club Songs list and numerous other national charts around the world, peaking at number 10.
Mitch Allan, Kara DioGuardi, Jason Evigan, and Audra Mae composed the song “Heartbeat Song,” although its origins were later disputed. Critics linked the tune and chords to Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 alternative rock smash, “The Middle.”
Clarkson responded to the criticism, saying, “I just sang the song; I didn’t write it.” However, I missed it. Nobody worked behind the scenes. I felt Jimmy Eat World’s response, “Hey, no harm, no foul,” was quite great. There are only a limited number of chords available. Jimmy Eat World didn’t seem to pursue the complaint, even though it appeared to have a strong likelihood of success in court, and the band remains absent from the composition credits for the song “Heartbeat Song.”
