Following Johnson’s death, police initiated an investigation, which has saddened the ice hockey community.

“Detectives have today (Tuesday, November 14) arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter,” a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police told The Yorkshire Post. He is still being held by police at this moment.

“On Saturday, October 28, Adam, 29, was seriously injured during a game between the Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers and was sadly pronounced dead in the hospital.”

“A post-mortem examination confirmed he died as a result of a fatal neck injury.”

“Our thoughts remain with all affected by this devastating incident as inquiries continue.”

Johnson’s ‘kind and unassuming demeanor’ was praised in his obituary.

“He enjoyed yard work, fishing, golfing with friends, participating in the Iron Ice hockey tournament, projects around the house, reading, following the stock market, and listening to his favorite music,” it said.

“Adam particularly enjoyed his quiet coffee time with his fiancee Ryan, daydreaming about their future and enjoying the mornings together.”

“Adam loved to live a slower life and took pleasure in the small, everyday things.”

In an Instagram post, his fiancée Ryan Wolf stated, “Rest in peace, my sweet boy.” We adore you tremendously.”

On November 5, players and supporters from Nottingham and other clubs gathered at the Panthers’ home arena to observe a two-minute silence in memory of Johnson.
