Guests will never forget the wedding photographer for what he has done…

At one Canadian wedding, a photographer saved a guest’s life.

The award-winning Tkshotz photographer Lauren Horch had to put her camera down to aid someone in need, according to Global News. She watched the groom’s uncle struggle at a Canmore, Alberta, wedding table.

The publication said the man was choking on food in his throat.

“He was tearing up, couldn’t get it out, and was having a hard time breathing,” Horch, 38, said Global News.

Todd Zwiczak, her Tkshotz colleague, said, “I think everybody was shocked. Everything happened fast, and she reacted swiftly, right? She didn’t even delay.”

Horch rushed to touch the man’s back. After that failed, she tried abdominal thrusts.

“Thankfully, he was able to get it out; I think it was the third thrust,” the photographer added. She said he coughed later but was “very grateful.”

Horch informed the newspaper that she learned the life-saving technique in a babysitting class 20 years ago.

“It’s been a number of years since I’ve done my last training,” she smiled, but the fright “inspired” her to renew.

Horch also said her kids keep her busy. “I have kids, so I’ve always mentally walked myself through what would happen if they choked,” she told Global News.

People contacted Horch for a comment but did not hear back.

The photography firm owner advised photographers and others in the field to be prepared for emergencies due to the large number of people who attend weddings.

Ben Marasco, founder of First Aid Calgary, told Global News that “only about 20% of Canadians have done a first aid course in the last three years.”

He said people fear when others choke, which can cause tension and chaos, which is the reverse of what should happen while saving a life.

Marasco stated that others often believe others will help.
